Heart disease & stroke caused by obesity

February 18th, 2008

Heart disease caused by obesity is now one of the leading causes of death in Malaysia.

High cholesterol is a risk factor for coronary heart disease, when too much bad cholesterol is in the blood, it will lead to the clogging of cholesterol in our arteries.

The fatty deposit built up in our body can eventually result in a block in the blood vessel, and when this happens, it is known as heart attack. The clogging of blood causes the death of muscles. And when the disrupted blood flow damage our brain cells, stroke happens.

Healthy Diet Plan I

January 28th, 2008

Healthy diet does not mean reducing food intake or lose weight, instead, it is more about eating right.

Instead of just eating one type of food, you should include more variety of food in your diet. Let’s look at the examples now:

1. Consume lots of vege, grains and fruits because they provide essential nutrients that your body needs.

2. Always select lean meat if possible, go for white meat such as chicken and fish instead of red meat.

3. Reduce caffeine, alcohol and salt intake as they dehydrate you.

4. Drink lots of water, at least 2L a day!
